La Louisianne Bed & Breakfast
La Louisianne opened as a bed and breakfast in 2009. It was recently purchased by Deborah Monahan, who grew up in Ireland and Canada and has always dreamed of owning a house like this.
The house was constructed around 1914 by the Webster family, owners of the Shediac lumber mill. One notable owner includes Basil Stead who was the mayor of Shediac between 1946-1947 and resided in the house from 1930 to 1973. Basil sold the house to Armand and Carmel Brun who used the house as a private residence. Both Armand and Carmel were active in the Shediac community including participating in City Council affairs. The house was sold in 2008 to two sisters from Alberta who converted the home to a bed and breakfast.
Deborah Monahan purchased the house in 2018 with the intention of running a bed and breakfast similar to ones she visited as a young girl growing up in Ireland. Deborah and her family lived in BC and Alberta for many years but on a trip to New Brunswick in the summer of 2018 realized that this was home. She loves the wild landscape of New Brunswick and the small town feel of Shediac. Deborah has been looking for a house to turn into a bed and breakfast for years and when she saw La Louisianne, she knew it was her new home. She left BC and her banking career to embark on this new adventure.
For years, Deborah has loved hosting friends and family and is renowned for her biscuits and apple crisps and is looking forward to sharing her tasty treats with new friends. Her goal for your stay is for you to feel like you have stepped into a relative's home where you will be cared for with warmth. When you come to her home you can expect to have great conversation over tea or retreat to other parts of the home to relax and recharge.
The older section of this charming home boasts four bedrooms and three bathrooms. Guests of La Louisianne have two large balconies at their immediate disposal, any of which are a wonderful place to enjoy a coffee or tea. The comfortable cozy den is ideal for get togethers or quietly reading a book. A tasty home-made breakfast will be equally enjoyable in either the sun room or the formal dining room. The breakfast menu is adjusted weekly to take advantage of the seasonal availability of fresh ingredients. We will be happy to accommodate any dietary needs you or your party may have, let us know.
